Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a condition characterized by pain and inflammation on the outer part of the elbow, often caused by repetitive arm or wrist movements. It typically results from overuse of the forearm muscles, leading to small tears in the tendons that attach to the elbow. While common in tennis players, it can affect anyone who performs repetitive motions, like as painters or carpenters.

Symptoms of Tennis Elbow

Pain on the outer part of the elbow that may radiate down the forearm

Pain intensifies with repetitive movements, such as lifting, gripping, or twisting motions

Tenderness when pressing on the elbow

Weak grip strength, making it difficult to hold objects or perform tasks like shaking hands

Conservative treatments such as physical therapy, medication and corticosteroid injections have failed

What is Elbow Artery Embolization?

Elbow artery embolization is a minimally invasive procedure designed to treat chronic elbow tendonitis and arthritis. During the procedure, a small incision is made, and a thin catheter is carefully inserted and guided to the blood vessels supplying the elbow using X-ray imaging. Once in place, the physician injects tiny embolic particles into the targeted vessels, reducing blood flow to the inflamed area, which helps alleviate pain and promote healing.
